Dear Friend,
We have developed a committee of experienced archivists, historians, librarians, community workers and local residents to support and guide the development of a community development archive in memory of our friend and colleague, Fergus McCabe. The archive will focus on the period 1970 -2010, 1970 is generally understood to be the start of an era in community development in the area, culminating in the watershed moment of closures of a number of projects in 2010.
We are now carrying out a survey to help us to develop an understanding of how much and where the material is stored. We believe there is a substantial amount of information being held locally in community projects and in homes (newsletters, minutes of meetings, photographs, videos). We are asking that you complete the survey only at this time and return it to us. We aim to employ an archivist to document the material in a professional and accessible way and to ultimately house it in the City Archive, where it can be stored safely.
You can complete the survey and return it to 22 Lower Buckigham Streeet, Dublin 1 or access it online by using the link below. Please feel free to use additional pages if necessary.

Closing Date is Friday 4th March 2022.
We think it would be a very fitting memorial to Fergus and the great work he did in his lifetime and the people he met, helped and mentored. We are confident that developing this archive will give future generations access to the rich history, the inspiring stories from projects and activities and to energise them in future work in the community
We ask that you share the survey with friends and colleagues and we look forward to hearing from you.
If you have any questions, please contact Mick Rafferty (089 4655474) or Patricia McCarthy (087 9172749) or email fergusmccabecommunityarchive@gmail.com.
Thank you for your interest and support in developing the Fergus McCabe Community Development Archive.
Best wishes,
Mick & Patricia
